Cinnamomum zeylanicum

Known for its warm and stimulating properties, it is especially prized in aromatherapy and natural cosmetics. Its spicy and powerful aroma brings warmth and comfort, while its active components are recognized for their invigorating and purifying benefits. It is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the cinnamon tree and is an essential oil rich in eugenol. This is a distinct variety from cinnamon bark essential oil, being milder yet still very potent. Cinnamon is one of the oldest spices in the world, used by the Egyptians as a medicine, as flavoring for drinks, and for embalming.

Uses and Precautions	Cutaneous use (very diluted) • Skin infections or fungi: Dilute to 0.5–1%, i.e., 1 drop in 10 ml of vegetable oil. Apply topically 1–2 times/day. · Fatigue or immune weakness: mix 1 drop of cinnamon leaf with 2 drops of ravintsara and 10 drops of vegetable oil. Apply to the soles of the feet or along the spine (2–3 times per week). · Stimulating massage oil (adult occasional use): 1 drop of cinnamon leaf + 2 drops of ginger + 2 drops of ylang-ylang in 10 ml of vegetable oil. Massage onto the back or solar plexus. For diffusion <br>· Never use alone. Very irritating to mucous membranes. · Can be used in blends at a maximum of 5%, with citrus, pine, ravintsara, or eucalyptus.<br> Example:<br>• 1 drop cinnamon leaf essential oil • 4 drops sweet orange essential oil • 2 drops sylvester pine essential oil<br> Diffuse for 15–20 minutes.
