Juniperus communis

It has been traditionally used in aromatherapy and phytotherapy for its effects on digestion, the urinary system, and circulation. It is obtained by steam distillation of the fruit. It has a long history of use in traditional medicine and aromatherapy due to its multiple therapeutic properties. It was already used in the Middle Ages as an air purifier and a protector against diseases; during the Black Plague, branches and berries were burned to disinfect the air. Alchemists considered it a purifier of the soul and body.

Physically

· Diuretic: stimulates kidney function, helping to eliminate toxins and excess fluids; very useful for fluid retention, edema, and cellulite.
· Depurative and detoxifying: helps cleanse the body, promoting the elimination of uric acid and other toxins.
· Antiseptic: useful for urinary tract infections, acne, and minor wounds.
· Anti-rheumatic and analgesic: relieves muscle and joint pain, gout, and arthritis.
· Digestive and carminative: stimulates digestion, reduces gas and abdominal bloating.
· Antispasmodic: relieves muscle and menstrual spasms.
· Astringent and purifying for the skin: ideal for oily skin, skin with acne, or impurities.

Emotionally and energetically

· Emotional tonic: in aromatherapy, it is used to relieve stress, nervous exhaustion, and anxiety.

Uses and Precautions	For skin use (Always diluted)<br>· Muscular/rheumatic pain: dilute 3–5 drops in 30 ml of vegetable oil (almond, coconut, etc.) and massage the affected area.<br>· Lymphatic drainage, cellulite, or retention: 3-5 drops in 30 ml of vegetable oil (almond, jojoba, or hazelnut), massage legs or abdomen, once or twice a day.<br>· Oily skin or acne: dilute 1 drop in a teaspoon of vegetable oil and apply topically.<br>For inhalation / For diffusion<br>· For fatigue or low mood: place 1 drop on a handkerchief and inhale slowly.<br>· Add 3–5 drops to a diffuser. Ideal for heavy environments, states of stress or anxiety, or to promote concentration.<br>Aromatic baths<br>· Add 5-8 drops diluted in a dispersant (salts, milk, or a tablespoon of vegetable oil) to the bath.<br>· Useful for detoxification, relaxation, or muscle pain.<br>For oral use (professional supervision required)<br>· In clinical phytotherapy, 1 drop can be used in a teaspoon of honey or in a neutral tablet, a maximum of 1-2 times a day and only for short periods.
